THREE NEW STANDARDS APPROVED IN THE IFOAM FAMILY OF STANDARDS
At its last meeting in India at the end of 2017, the IFOAM-Organics International World Board approved three new standards into the?IFOAM Family of Standards.
The newly approved standards are:
- The Biocyclic-Vegan Standard. The Biocyclic-Vegan Standard is the first international organic vegan-farming standard, which means that the farming system does not rely on farmed animals.
-
- The SAOSO Standard from South Africa. SAOSO is the South African Organic Sector Organisation, owner of the SAOSO national organic logo.
-
- The Diaoyutai Private Organic Standard from China. Diaoyutai is a joint private-public brand for organic products in China.
These approvals are the end result of a process of application, evaluation and improvement that has ranged from several months to several years, depending on the standard. The 3 standard owners are now proud to have joined the list of credible organic standards approved by IFOAM-Organics International.
The full list of standards approved in the IFOAM Family of Standards isavailable online. A summary of the assessments are publicly available for each approved standard, which you can view by clicking on the standard in the list.
