| Description | The farm was bought by the Falk family in 1994 and the farm was ushered into a new era. Not only did they enlarge and transform Canetsfontein into a diverse agricultural estate, but the focus shifted to organic and sustainable farming. Today the farm is a model of modern Wine, Olive and Fruit farming and an unspoilt tourist destination, sharing everything the majestic mountains have to offer The farm is zoned in 3 main growing areas according to the soil types and microclimate. The Northwest FACING UPPER SLOPES, the Northeast FACING HILLS and the LOWER VALLEY below the main homestead. The altitude of the farm ranges between 180 and 310 metres above sea level. The main soil types are Tukulu, Oakleaf, Glenrosa and Vilafontes and the terroir is well situated for the growing of Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon and Shiraz grapes. 25 Hectares of organic grape growing are in development since 2021. All the grapes are hand harvested, vinified and barrel matured in a small boutique cellar on the farm. |
