- Industry principles: health, ecology, justice and care
- The organic industry offers solutions to the climate crisis, world hunger and resource destruction
What unites the organic industry: principles, diversity and sustainability
The common understanding permeating the global organic movement, which transcends national, language, religious and cultural boundaries, is based on four common principles: the principles of
health, ecology, fairness and care. Using various, locally adapted methods, organic players are creating a sustainable food and farming industry that works in harmony with ground, water and the
climate, thinks in cycles and enhances the life chances of current and future generations. One common aspect that connects the organic movement is its diversity. Ecological management means working
within the limits of the Earth’s strain systems – regardless of where land is being farmed and food is being produced on the planet. Organic producers employ a wide range of methods depending on
their location, agricultural background, the financial strength of local players and the local infrastructure. Innovation in all areas is particularly important here, and for that reason, organic
practitioners are constantly seeking to improve their knowledge system. Players put ecological management right at the top of the social and political agendas and are showing very clearly in every
region of the world how a sustainable farming industry can work. The organic industry has set out its visions and strategies under the heading of Organic 3.0 over the last three years. The first
time Organic 3.0 was a main theme at the congress at BIOFACH 2014.
What makes the organic industry current: its ecological management approach offers solutions to the climate crisis, world hunger and resource destruction
The nations represented by actors at BIOFACH in Nuremberg, including Germany, are demonstrating how their approaches to development can be used to overcome pressing challenges – both within and
outside the organic sector. Organic players are already debating what should be on the agenda of agricultural, food and trade policies, as well as what should be covered at regular inter-company
round-table discussions. Examples include how international trade can guarantee fairness, how value can be created along the whole of the value chain, how politics needs to create the right basic
economic conditions, how costs to the environment are being borne by those causing them, which innovations will take us forward, how future generations can be involved and how farming and food
industry systems really can be made sustainable. At BIOFACH 2017, global organic players will present revolutionary examples of a food industry that works in harmony with resources and the global
climate and is forward-looking for all people and future generations thanks to continuous innovation and responsibility. Examples that decision makers from institutions and also advisors in
international cooperation can take away with them.
Political and social responsibility and diversity in every facet
The main theme of the congress at BIOFACH 2017 will see responsibility and diversity looked at from a wide range of angles. These will include political responsibility for the development of
organic agriculture, development cooperation, fair market access with regard to free trade agreements and for a sustainable economy. Social responsibility will be discussed with regard to economic
participation and continuity. When diversity is being discussed, the primary focus will be ecological responsibility. The main topics here will be diversity through the prevention of power
concentration and resilience through diversity or diversity as a basis for research and development with the aim being a resilient and robust food and farming industry
NürnbergMesse has proven expertise in the area of organic food. The international organic industry meets every year in Nuremberg at BIOFACH, the World’s Leading Trade Fair for Organic Food. BIOFACH
World is represented across the globe by five other BIOFACH events in Japan, the United States, South America, China and India, and brings over 3,000 exhibitors and 100,000 trade visitors together
year after year.
