The European Organic Congress gala dinner blends panel discussion with organic food
Brussels (19.11.2007) - The IFOAM EU Group (1) confirmed the programme for the evening event as highlight at the end of the first day of the European Organic Congress (2) on December 4th-5th, 2007 . The Brussels ’ La Tentation will be the venue of a panel discussion involving the head of cabinet of Commissioner Fischer Boel, the OECD Head of the Policies and Environment Division and NGO representatives who will discuss about “The rural world of tomorrow - FutureChallenges of Agriculture in a changing environment”.
The session will be chaired by Mette Meldgaard, IFOAM Vice President, and the panellists are:
- Poul Skytte Christoffersen, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Mariann Fischer Boel
- Wilfrid Legg, Head of the Policies and Environment Division in the OECD Agriculture Directorate
- Tamas Marghescu, IUCN, Regional Director for Europe
- Rasmus Kjeldahl , President, BEUC
- Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association
- Andrea Caroe , Chair of the USDA National Organic Standards Board
The panel discussion is followed by an organic gala dinner and a cultural programme. Apart from a delicious three course organic meal, the highlights of the evening involve an Astor Piazolla concert and an oriental dance performance. “We promise this will be an evening to remember - says the Director of the IFOAM EU Group, Marco Schlueter - but as the number of seats for this event is limited and only 20 tickets are left, we urge congress participants to register as soon as possible”.
