BRATTLEBORO, VT (May 18, 2011)—The Organic Trade Association (OTA) is currently seeking nominations for its prestigious Organic Leadership Awards. The awards are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the organic industry.

For 2011, OTA is accepting nominations for two awards: an Achievement in Growing the Organic Industry award and an Achievement in Growing Organic Agriculture award.

Candidates must have demonstrated skills, innovation, personal commitment, leadership and vision to grow organic agriculture or the organic sector. In addition, they must have achieved identifiable and lasting changes to promote and protect organic agriculture and trade, and have inspired others to advance the cause as well. The awards will be presented during OTA’s Annual Awards Dinner and Dance Sept. 21 in Baltimore, MD, during OTA’s Members Days events at Natural Products Expo East.

OTA’s Annual Organic Leadership Award was established in 1997. The 2010 Organic Leadership Award recipients were Theresa Marquez, Chief Marketing Executive of Organic Valley, and Bob Quinn, President of Kamut® International. Past honorees are featured on OTA’s website.

Nominations and letters of endorsement for the 2011 Awards are due May 27. The selection criterion and downloadable nominations forms are posted on OTA’s website.
