Ciranda Supports Worldwide Effort to Achieve
Economic, Social and Environmental Palm Oil Sustainability

Hudson WI, September 1, 2011 Ciranda, Inc., a Twin Cities-based supplier of organic food ingredients, adds the certification of sustainability awarded to its palm oil producer to its growing list of Fair Trade and Environmental initiatives. Ciranda's palm oil produced by Brazil-based Agropalma ? recently received the certification from the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) after achieving EcoSocial certification in 2008.

With this certification, Ciranda reinforces its commitment to sustainable palm oil production, an effort that enforces improved environmental, social and economic standards in farming and production. An RSPO member since September 2007, Ciranda supports the organization's global initiative to protect bio-diversity, strengthen local economies, provide a livable wage to workers and educational and healthcare support to their families - while producing a superior product.

The certification of Brazil-based Agropalma, a leader in South America's palm oil industry, represents Brazil's first certification of sustainable palm oil. With Agropalma, global production of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) is now close to 5 million tons, 10 percent of global palm oil production.
